The Cowardly Lion
A log of our quest to get Jonah to wear the lion costume.

——————————————————————————–

November 13, 1998: A sad ending to a long journey. The cowardly lion came down sick the Friday before Halloween and was unable to attend the Fall Carnival at church. Mom and Dad were more upset than he was. There is hope that the outfit will still fit him next year. We will resume the quest again next October.

Friday Oct. 23, 1998, Success!! As you can see, we now have a lion living in the house! I’m not sure how it happened. I put Jonah in my lap and told him to put his feet in the costume and he did. After I finished with the body, Wendy came over and gently put on the hat. And then we took a lot of pictures.

In the above pic he is not wearing the feet. He was wearing them but they are too big without shoes on so they came right off. He is not averse to wearing the feet. Total Victory!

Week of October 11, 1998, Wendy scored a minor victory and we took pictures of Jonah wearing the headpiece without crying. Sorry, they are not digital so you’ll have to wait. No other progress made. Special note: seems not to mind playing with the feet. The main body part is way out.

Friday Oct. 2, 1998, we called Scott and Susan and asked them to bring over Robby so that Jonah might see that the costume is neat to put on. Robby came over and put the costume on modeled it for Jonah. Then he disappeared into the bedroom and Superman returned. Jonah of course wanted to put on the Lion costume. Wendy got his legs into it fine but once she got his arms into it he started crying again asking to take it off. WE WERE SO CLOSE!!!!!!! So I took a couple of pics and I present them here for your viewing.
